What is Sleepio?
Sleepio is a digital sleep improvement programme created by world sleep expert, Professor Colin Espie, and grounded in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
Over 6 weekly online sessions, a range of cognitive and behavioural techniques are introduced, designed to help people get their schedule, bedroom, lifestyle and thoughts into shape.
These techniques are personalised to each individual and proven to help people make the changes necessary to get to sleep faster, stay asleep through the night and feel better during the day.
What can I expect?
The Sleepio programme is a self-help programme which you can complete at a time and place that suits you. Each week there are weekly sessions which take 20-25 minutes to complete. Between sessions you are invited to complete a sleep diary, to help track your progress – this takes less than a minute each day.
If you access Sleepio with iCope, you will have a support worker who will check in at the start of the programme, and every two weeks, to see how you are finding it.
What is the evidence that Sleepio works?
Sleepio is based an established evidence-based therapy, called Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for insomnia.
The Sleepio programme has been tested in multiple ‘Randomized Controlled Trials’ or ‘RCTs’. The results of these trials show that the techniques taught during the program help people learn to fall asleep faster, spend less time awake during the night, and wake up feeling more refreshed.
